Did you ever feel like asking these questions to God?

“Where is your provision?”

“Where is your miracle of healing?”

“Where are you in my situation?”

“Where are your answers?”

Are you in a place right now where you question, “Where are you, Lord?”

We are all guilty of asking where God is amidst our life at one point or another.  We become susceptible to pain and fear through difficult times. We panic when things do not go as planned. And when we do, we miss out on that still small voice whose power is much bigger than these—God the Holy Spirit lives in those who believe in Him. And where the Spirit dwells, no lies of the enemy shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). For we have been justified when Jesus died for us

John 1:12 For “all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.”

Make Room is about yielding to the Holy Spirit. As sons and daughters of God, we are to depend on His power to sanctify us, to empower us to live God-honoring lives. Left to ourselves, all our efforts and good works are futile.

John 14:15-17 If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever – the Spirit of Truth. The world cannot accept him because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him for he lives with you and will be with you.

The Holy Spirit is God.

The Holy Spirit is the third Person in the Holy Trinity; and He is God (Genesis 1:2). He deserves to be honored the same way we honor God the Father, and God the Son. We allow the Holy Spirit to lead us, to work in us and through us. We are to walk continuously in agreement with Him so we can live victorious Christian lives.

John 16:13-15 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.

The Holy Spirit is Alive in Us.

If we keep trying to change ourselves based on our understanding, to please others by conforming to what seems reasonable to the world (Romans 12:2), we will never be satisfied. The Holy Spirit poured out His presence to overflow in us—allowing us to know sufficiently well that God alone is more than enough. He steers us towards righteousness and secures our identity in Christ.

Romans 8:5-10 People who live following their sinful selves think only about what they want. But those who live following the Spirit are thinking about what the Spirit wants to do. If your sinful nature controls your thinking, there is spiritual death. But if the Spirit leads your thinking, there is life and peace. Why is this true? Because anyone whose thinking is controlled by their sinful self is against God. They refuse to obey God’s law. And they are not able to follow it. Those who are ruled by their sinful nature cannot please God. But you are not ruled by your sinful selves. The spirit guides you if that Spirit of God lives in you. But whoever does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to Christ. Your body will always be dead because of sin. But if Christ is in you, then the Spirit gives you life, because Christ made you right with God.

The Holy Spirit Enables Us.

When we walk in the Spirit, we allow Him to transform us in the way we have been designed to live. We are no longer slaves of the past; now we have been called to declare the works of God.  For the Holy Spirit enables us at home, at our workplace, at school–everywhere and always. And the less we depend on our judgment, the more we make room for Him. The Holy Spirit empowers us to turn away from sin and to meditate on the Word of God every day.  Living in the power and leading of the Holy Spirit allows us to live a dynamic life—a life to become witnesses to the works of God.

Acts 1: 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

Now that we have reached the end of our series, we hope that all of us have come to understand who the Holy Spirit is, and how He works in us and through us.  For the Holy Spirit is our Helper, Counselor, and Teacher whose presence is poured out onto us so that we be sanctified, and be called sons and daughters of God. Knowing that the Holy Spirit dwells in us, we are to surrender our lives to Jesus, and to walk in the Spirit; and by bearing the fruit of the Holy Spirit, we are to live an empowered life by sharing the gospel to others.

Father, may your Spirit open our hearts to accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Because of His death on the cross, we have been set free from sin; we have been renewed and redeemed. And by the grace of God, we can live victoriously. For Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and The Life, and through Him, we can have access to our Father in heaven.

We also pray for humility to allow the Holy Spirit to lead our lives not just during in times of trouble, but every day as we proclaim your gospel. We understand that our human abilities are limited, so we put our faith in you. We rely on the power of the Holy Spirit to move us according to your will. Continue to transform us so that we can pattern our ways to the life of Christ. Through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we shall walk in you and with you for your glory. Through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
