April Newsletter

Dear Victory BGC family,

April gave us a chance to slow down a little and lean into moments of quiet with God. Even in a less busy month, we’ve been reminded that He’s always at work—in our hearts, in our church, and in our community.

Here’s a quick recap:

Recap: Holy Week Series – There Is A King

This Holy Week, we walked through the story of our Savior with a renewed sense of awe and gratitude. In our series There Is a King, we were reminded that Jesus isn’t just a good teacher or historical figure—He is the righteous, eternal King who laid down His life for us and now reigns victorious.

On Palm Sunday, we reflected on The Humble King and His Cross—how Jesus defied expectations by coming not as a political ruler, but as a servant willing to suffer for the sake of love. Then on Resurrection Sunday, we celebrated The Victorious King Who Reigns Forever. His resurrection is our victory. Because of what Jesus accomplished on the Cross, conquering sin and death, we can now walk in freedom as God’s redeemed children!

Our hope is that as we keep walking through life—on the good days and the hard ones—we’d keep holding on to the joy and freedom we have because of Jesus.

He’s alive, He’s reigning, and that changes everything.

Generations–Home Screening

In partnership with Generations-Home, we had the privilege of hosting an exclusive screening of Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot

The film tells the incredible true story of Donna and Rev. Martin, who adopted 77 children from the foster system through their small church in East Texas. It’s a powerful image of the Gospel reflected through adoption—reaching out to lost souls and sharing the love of Jesus in a real and life-changing way.

As we watched, we were deeply moved and encouraged. The story reminded us that sometimes, God calls us to show His love in different ways and in capacities we might not expect. Whether it’s reaching out to those in our everyday circles or responding to needs beyond what we’re used to, we’re invited to be open to how He leads us to make a difference. And in these moments, we get to be part of His beautiful work—work that goes beyond our generation and makes a difference for eternity.

Beyond the Pulpit

New on Beyond the Pulpit: Episode 5: Why Some Christian Men Are Afraid of Committing to Dating & Relationships

Ghosting, submarining, and “testing the waters”—disappearing without a word, reappearing like nothing happened, or casually exploring without commitment—are behaviors and buzzwords both old and new that we’ve been hearing more lately in the dating world.

Pastors Paolo Punzalan, Jojit Fernandez, Mark Tusoy, and Arby Petel dive deep into these patterns, examining the fears, hesitations, and habits that keep single Christian men from pursuing dating and relationships with clarity and conviction.

Let’s Pray Together

With the elections coming up on May 12, let’s pray for a clean and fair election process. May we also pray for a God-fearing Philippines and government, that the leaders who are chosen will have the best interests of the people and the nation at heart. Above all, may we remember to look to God for our hope and peace, knowing that He still sits on the throne and He is in control.

“I pray that the God who gives hope will fill you with much joy and peace as you trust in him. Then you will have more and more hope, and it will flow out of you by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
