October Newsletter

Dear Victory BGC Family,

As we welcome a new month, we’re excited to look back on October and share some highlights from our time together in the church community!

Victory Weekend

This month, we witnessed 113 Victory Weekend participants take an important step toward growing in their faith and leading a life that honors Jesus! Aside from this, we also witnessed the water baptisms of those participants who chose to declare their commitment to Jesus through baptism in water. It was truly moving to hear their testimonies of how God transformed their lives, brought healing, provided strength to forgive, and brought other breakthroughs. It’s amazing that we get to see lives transformed firsthand and witness how God is continuously moving in people’s lives.

Mental Health Awareness

This October was World Mental Health Awareness Month. We’re thankful that as a church community, we can emphasize the importance of seeking support from God and our church community, while also equipping the church to be a more effective support system for those who seek it.

In line with this, we held two events for both young and seasoned generations. For our Young Adults community, we hosted “Unmasking Anxiety”—a talk that focuses on navigating anxiety and how God’s Word addresses the daily struggles we face. It was enlightening to learn from our trained counselors some practical ways to handle life’s pressures and how leaning on both God and community is a step toward bringing real peace.

For our Seniorly Yours church community, we organized a 2-day Soul Care Retreat: “Search Me, Oh God” for Victory Group leaders. Our Senior Victory Group leaders are a strong and passionate force, full of wisdom, strength, and faith; it was a privilege to have the opportunity to speak into their lives. We are so excited to see them continue to make an impact in the lives of others!

These events were created as safe spaces for both communities, where we were able to reflect, share, and walk away feeling more grounded and assured in God’s truth.

In addition, we focused on mental health awareness through our social media platforms this month, addressing various struggles such as sleeplessness, restlessness, anxiety, and waves of emotions. Our heart behind this was to acknowledge that even Christians face these challenges and daily struggles while also reminding everyone that peace and rest are available in Jesus. We emphasized that there is comfort and assurance in His presence and that He is not afraid or offended by our concerns—He invites us to bring them to Him.

ENC God & Government

Our ENC BGC team hosted “Let’s Talk About Politics: God & Government,” creating a valuable space for our students to explore the intersection of faith and civic duty. Approximately 60-70 student government leaders from various campuses attended and had the opportunity to hear from our esteemed guest speakers: Bishop Manny Carlos and Attorney Chona Gonzales.

During the event, our students reflected on their roles in shaping a just and compassionate society and considered how to apply their insights to their respective leadership positions in student government.

We are so excited for the next generation!

KIDS: Fun Fest 2024

This month, our KIDS ministry hosted FUN FEST! It was an incredible day filled with costumes, delicious food, and exciting game booths. Kids had a blast participating in various activities with their friends, families, and KIDS Church teachers.

The event created a wonderful atmosphere for building relationships within our church community, fostering fellowship among the kids from KIDS Church while celebrating faith, friendship, and fun in a Christ-centered environment. We loved seeing everyone come together to create joyful memories!
